North Saint Paul History Cruze
The North St. Paul History Cruze started on a Friday night in 1996 with about 25 cars near the intersection of 7th Avenue and Margaret Street. It has grown and now draws 700 to 1,800 cars each week that park along a half-mile + stretch of 7th Avenue and fills many adjacent parking lots. The street is closed to other traffic for the night and a fair-like atmosphere prevails with street vendors, music, and food. This year the Cruze has been extended east an additional block to Henry Ave. accommodate more cars.
The Cruze runs each Friday night from July 4th to Sept. 24th (6:00pm - 10:00pm) rain or shine. During the summer only six Friday nights are reserved for a "Car Club of the Night". This year the MMGG has been selected and assigned August 20th as a featured Car Club.
The featured Club has a new reserved "premier" show-lot location. This year the lot is located on the east end of 7th Ave. in a large lot next to Sidewinders Bar. You can enter the Show-lot from either the front from 7th Ave. or the back from Seppala Blvd. The lot can hold up to 20+ cars so please contact me (Paul Lyon, email@example.com) or signup on the website “Events” section if you will be attending. The Main Street show-lot will open at 5:00pm. As in previous years I will need some help directing attendees into the show lot and help picking the top car of the night.
The band “The Surf Riders” will be playing in front of Sidewinders. As you might have guessed they play twangy '60s instrumental surf hits. They have played the Cruze in previous years and play a great string of hits that are perfect for the car show.
Also, to celebrate all things MG we will have our own special edition Friday Night Cruze "MGs t-shirt. The cost is $20. See the Regalia section on the MMGG website to order yours. Will need all orders in by the end of July to assure delivery to you.
